So, without even checking you can probably guess how successful this year’s National Novel Writing Month endeavor was. That’s right: not. I got farther than I did last year, though, so that’s a plus, I suppose.
But onto bigger fish. Like Tundra of Heroes. I need to finish it this year. That means two or three more chapters to write, roughly, and then a bunch of editing. I don’t have any foolhardy notions like “it must be perfect by January 1st, as I will never work on it again,” but the entirety of it must be firmly within the editing stage. I will write the conclusion. I must.
Rewrite progress: 8.7/10
Once I finish up Chapter 9 and do Chapter 10, it’ll be time for a quick one- or two-week pass through the entirety of Jeuni’s story setting things straight.
I won’t have finished before my classes begin, but I will complete an “as perfect as I can make it right now” Tundra of Heroes Part 1 before the summer ends. (P.S. Ironic tag is ironic.)
Hey there. It’s been a long time since the last Sunday Update.
I began working at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory last Wednesday. I’m in the same place as last year, down to the same cubicle. It still had my name on it. The computer, an extremely dusty G5, still had my application preferences saved in my account. Orientation was still devastatingly snore-inducing.
My work this summer so far has revolved around WordPress… which is awesome. It seems like this time around I’m actually going to make something usable for the Communications Department in the way of a Content Management System, and two serious possibilities being explored right now are Drupal and WordPress. Erik, the main web guy here, is figuring out what he can and can’t do with Drupal; I’m figuring out what I can and can’t do with WordPress. It’s very fun because I love working with WordPress and I don’t feel like a complete idiot because I know a lot about the software. And I’m still learning stuff as I go! Woot.
Ultimately, my task will be to turn this mess into a CMS that will allow non-tech savvy Communications folks to push content themselves.
So yeah. That’ll keep me busy for a while, at least.
In the meantime, I’m looking for time to devote to writing, drawing, and my own web business. I’m pretty pooped at the end of a day so it’s a bit tricky. I’m going to try to get back to a 2xweek Night Switch schedule, starting this Friday. I also want to get the ball rolling on HC again… hopefully I can finish up book one before the year’s over.
I’ll try to keep the site updated somehow!
Oh, and in the meantime, you guys can check out the changes on michaelpruess.com. It’s been improved a bit, I think.
As you might have noticed if you are the kind of person who looks at these kinds of things, the “Upcoming Releases” section of the sidebar has been altered fairly significantly. Most alteredly, I’m pushing back the next Tundra of Heroes release by one week (from the end of November to the my half-birthday). Then, there are two new items: one is due in a few days, the first The Amazing Adventures of Flak comic. The second is something completely new for this site: a visual novel!
Details on the forthcoming releases after the jump.
