Dreams of the Quill

I don’t intend to have more updating to do tonight, because I’m lazy and the next installment of For the Pen Recollections (titled “Spinning a Tale”) won’t be out for a while, so here we are. For the first time in a long time, DotQ is updating, and with a measely two art pieces. Oh well, at least they’re interesting.

First off, we have the emotional Remember Suigeki.

Next, we have the badass depiction of Kaze as a ninja.

Evil by GheoFabulousDuk is a well-crafted overly-dramatic monologue that is not only a fun read but also an interesting look into the human mind. Er, read it, and like it.

In other, less-related news, I’m considering changes to the layout (minor tweaks, that is.) If you’d like to add your input to this process, please post your thoughts in the thread concerning itself with the layout of DotQ. Thanks for your time.

…what? You were expecting more TLS? Why ever were you doing that? Just because I’ve been hurrying to finish Fuyu doesn’t mean I’m hurrying to get Haru out there. Remember, kids- For the Pen is the only thing I actually have going for me at the moment. HC’s a pain to piece back together from broken text files, ToH is a mess, and TLS is just… inferior to FtP on every level.

So yes, I have an update. And no, it’s not TLS.

For the Pen: Recollections - The Biography Part 3

I’m still immensely pleased with how this is going. This new section gives a bit of a glimpse at some of the things that have happened in the seven years since Kaze’s time as a freshman in Osaka. We take a peek at Zimmers’ journals and see a snippet of Kaze writing with a pen once more. …what’s wrong? Kaze seems upset. Guess you’ll have to wait for part four to find out!

Yup yup! Finally got done with Fuyu. As you probably know, TLS was supposed to be finished by the end of 2005. This update marks the 2/5 mark. There are three more seasons to cover.

The Last Season: 「Fuyu」 Not Alone

This section is muchly changed from the original, far more so than the previous two. For one, Akane doesn’t smooch Reo. A more significant changes, Akane doesn’t break down and “pounce” on Midori (as I so eloquently put it in previous writings.) These two changes are based on a few factors, they are:

• - The way I wrote out the original scenarios suuuuucked. With a lot of ‘u’s.
• - I wasn’t happy with the pacing.
• - Akane might have been a hospital patient, but she wasn’t a mental patient. And the changes that occur in her mental processes to lead her to act the way she did in the original writing are not sane.
• - Various inspiration has led me to the conclusion that there are much better ways to lay out a situation, and I’m trying to build up to this.

Remember, as always, that The Last Season is an experiment, much like Tundra of Heroes. Unlike Tundra of Heroes, which is a fairly typical fantasy tale, The Last Season is an experiment in something I have pretty much no hands-on experience with (and most likely relies all too heavily on anime-granted knowledge. bah.)

Sidenote: I’ve moved the completed Kaze Emoticon Set to Wordpress and renabled smilies.
