Comments on the piece: I’m not altogether happy with how the coloring came. Foremost amongst my worries is the background. It’s more than bland. Yes, I know this. And I’m not happy about it. The alternatives were limited, however. Redoing large portions of the sketch, rescanning, and redoing all the coloring I’d already done didn’t seem like a particularly attractive alternative. The other, incorporating textures, failed hard. I found a fairly useful rock texture tutorial for Photoshop, which seemed like what I’d want… and it was, sort of. The drawback being that it just doesn’t fit in at all with the rest of the drawing. I’m going to stick to being plain and bland in my coloring until a time at which I’m able to draw consistent drawings that can make full use of whatever Photoshop can contribute. [Sketch version.]
