Dreams of the Quill

Sometime in November 2005, the harddrive of my computer, The Ducky, died due to physical damage (possibly connected in some way to the incident in which the computer became bent.) I copied all my writing onto my flash drive as a backup before attempting to wipe and re-format the HD. In doing so, I “replaced all existing” backed up files. At the time, I did not know that the new backups were corrupt.

They were. I spent a week or so not knowing what to do with myself. I’d just lost the Hunter Chronicles, which was pretty much the most important thing to me there was. I still had a handful of chapters online, but all the background, all the lore, all the side pieces, all 210 pages of HC Book One…

Thankfully, my brother showed me how to recover the bulk of the lost material. Unfortunately, the recovered content was not whole. It had blanks in every other paragraph almost. Large blanks. Whole sentences, whole paragraphs sometimes. I’ll never recover the exact words. However, I can (with a LOT of time) rewrite HC from the point where online chapters leave off using what I’ve got as a guide. I doubt I will do this anytime soon- maybe in the summer or something.

Until then I’ll just post the fifteen or so chapters I’ve got that are in good condition, and I appreciate your patience in the meantime :)

Pity story aside, filling in the blanks and reviving CoM isn’t going to happen. It stems from 2002 after all, and it would really be best at this point to either move on or rewrite from scratch. As moving on is something I suck at doing, it’ll be a rewrite. I’ll leave this 19 chapters up, but don’t expect more. Cheers!
