7/15/09 Thieves – 2

By Flak | Comments: 4

Back to the thieves. No more smiles or trees or chains for now; I’ve been writing Night Switch.

(B) Some sneak thought she could barge into my own home and steal my wallet. I remember my days as a pickpocket on the street. We were similar. I see her eyes on my security cameras. They’ve got a shine to them. I can see her appraising the value of each of her targets. I was just like that. Less pretty, though. Beauties like her are the most dangerous pickpockets. Well, I’ve got an ID on her—I guess I’ll play nice and get my stuff back her way. And if she tries to pull the identity theft card first, I’ve got footage that’ll put her away for years.

  1. And if she doesn’t crack soon, I’ll show her the prize of my collection: the feet of her own mother, hacked off at the start of her bloody career. Footage like that doesn’t get slipped past a jury easily.
