12/3/08 Drawing Harvest 14, 12-03-08

I said I’d post this this Friday, but I didn’t finish Tundra of Heroes Chapter 14 in time as I spent yesterday on other creative pursuits. Enjoy some sketches.

Brief descriptions, from top left to bottom right:

1) I CONTINUE TO FIGHT, EVERYTHING IS BRIGHT etc. Another attempt at drawing a girl. Huge head is huge (misc).

2) I started out drawing Ynthon but then it was really just some dude. He’s waiting somewhere, perhaps for someone or perhaps for something. Thinking some kind of station, maybe a subway or something (misc).

3) The umbrella has no reason to stay where it is, but eh. Also, bicycle anatomy DO I KNOW IT? The answer’s no. But whatever. It’s some dude standing with his bike in the rain (misc).

4) I’m not sure if this is supposed to be Amamiya-sensei of ef or Raul of Gerard&Jacques. Actually it’s not supposed to be either. It’s inspired by both. Thanks, SVS, President, and IcyStorm! Good times. (fanart:ef ~a tale of melodies~)

5) Some person sleeping (misc).

6) Uniforms of Byhrate military (TOH). Should explain similarities between Ynthon’s garb in recent pictures and Jeuni’s mantle. Similar shticks for Harnecia, Cresso, and other regions coming soon.

7) Tomora Ynthon *spoilers for Tundra of Heroes Chapter 14* (TOH).

8) Don’t ask (misc).

9) This started out as a sketch of HC’s Edge, but then it turned into some random barbarian-esque man (misc). Edge doesn’t have a beard; I’d forgotten that. T_T

10) A human soul in the final days of its “Warrior Spirit” stage, about to become a Shade (HC).

  2. Critics:

    #1: Shoulder’s too small, and the long strands are drawn behind the head, which is correct, but that means there’s only one side of the head has hair. Draw strands on the side that’s facing the viewers to give it depth or else it looks incorrect. Unless a girl with left side having long hair is what you’re going for.

    #2: Cool idea, but lower body perspective is off. The right leg is facing away from us at an angle that makes the position of the left leg very uncomfortable. Fix the left leg and it’ll be fine. But since it’s just a rough sketch, it’s ok I suppose.

    #3: Seems fine, no comments here. (beside the umbrella which you already said.)

    #4: Too many to list, but for starters, just because it’s at a three-quarter view, doesn’t mean the eyes get shrunk to the point of looking like a mutilated face. I can find you some quarter-views tutorials if you wish.

    #5: Looks fine to me, I’m drawing something just like this actually. Except mine’s a girl and she’s more revealing in terms of clothings. :P

    #6: Seems fine, no comments.

    #7: Looks fine, but fix the shirt. The shirt doesn’t look like a shirt at all, give it some folds and beginning from around the armpit area to below, the shirt looks messed up. Add folds there to make it look like a shirt.

    #8: Head proportions is off even for anime-like drawings. But I’m not gonna ask.

    #9: Pure gold.

    #10: Godly. But the scythe doesn’t look lethal at all, it looks far too soft and round to even intimidate anyone. Length of right and left arms are unbalanced. And the ghost looks like it has 2 left hands.
