1/22/08 Life sucks for some

Well, today has been full of surprises and happiness. I’d like to give you all a better reason than this other than my going on about how much things suck, but today has given me several very good reasons to do so. Shall I go on? I believe I shall.

You all may not know this, but not long ago my father was in a car accident. He was rear-ended by another driver while coming home, and had to be taken to the hospital. The wreck ended up re-agitating old injuries that he had gotten from a previous car wreck several years back, back when I was still just a wee boy. Because of this wreck, and the fact that he had open heart surgery not a year ago, he was sent in for several extensive tests including; an MRI, a cat-scan, x-rays, and an ultrasound test (If I misused a semi-colon there, feel free to tell me so in the comments).

Today he got back those results, and it appears that what I feared didn’t come to pass. There was an injury, and it may require surgery, but it isn’t as serious as I had thought. A combination of pain and medication has been causing him to have minor memory loss, and occasional dizzy spells. He’s also constantly in pain, which I’m sure any of you can imagine is not at all comfortable, pleasant, or nice in any way.

Somewhere after getting the results back, we found out that his sister (my aunt) had her hip thrown out of place. She’s had a lot of hip problems in the past due to an allergic reaction to a medicine a long time ago. This means that, not only is she in a lot of pain, but she won’t be able to drive my grandfather to the pre-determined pick up location for my sister’s wedding. That means I might have to spend six hours driving on the day of the wedding to pick him up and take him here, only to drive even further to the wedding to try on clothing that has been altered and may or may not fit properly.

After the good news that she might need surgery to put her hip back into place, dad told us that he had to go back to work for a meeting on his day off.

On his way back, he hit a deer. It’s possible that it was more than one, but the damage doesn’t seem to say so. Anyways… now he’s in the hospital, probably over night, and they’re checking to see if his injuries have been worsened or not. At the very least, the damage will be minimal to him and the car will be fixed with no problem. Worst case scenario, he has to have surgery and the car won’t be able to be fixed easily (which is unlikely, because we drove it home).

Uh… yeah, I think that’s about it.
