He had no remuneration, i.e., nothing. So Clannad is nothing amongst other shows. Your analogy is brilliant, despite how I have to disagree with it.
Clannad is all well and good, but it isn’t that great. Etc.

By “he” I meant Hei, since “the powerful contractor amongst humans” implied thus. He was one with his sister, remember? So technically his remuneration = nothing, while his sister inside him pays for it, which is rather confusing, but how I saw it.
Although I see something else now: you could also be saying that Clannad is powerful and a cut above all other anime, but the catch is that it has a price to pay for all that power, and that its catch, or remuneration as it were, is it being moe fodder.
Either way I still win, so JUST AS PLANNED. Tell me if I read your thoughts correctly.
I was not referring to Hei because Hei is not a contractor.
Your second thought is closer, though I wasn’t so much trying to be insightful and attack the the show’s moeness as I was being hyperbolic. I don’t think the Dango song is moe (please tell me it’s not?), so “moe fodder” would not be the remuneration I was referring to. I don’t think it’s so important for me to clarify further because I made this post on a spur of the moment impulse after Sunohara called Okazaki on Fuuko. Which was awesome.
Of course, the show is a moe overload and I detest that aspect of it. Though, I think it’s fairly masterful how they blend fairly depressing things with fairly light-hearted (won’t say funny) things. Anyway, you always win, Owen~

But I like how they took the song: ‘chiisana te no hira’ by riya and put different words to it for the anime’s end theme. However riya’s song is way better.
