11/15/07 Schedule Rearrangement
By Flak | Comments: 1As you might have noticed if you are the kind of person who looks at these kinds of things, the “Upcoming Releases” section of the sidebar has been altered fairly significantly. Most alteredly, I’m pushing back the next Tundra of Heroes release by one week (from the end of November to the my half-birthday). Then, there are two new items: one is due in a few days, the first The Amazing Adventures of Flak comic. The second is something completely new for this site: a visual novel!
Details on the forthcoming releases after the jump.
TAAOF Comic 01 - I’ve taken the text of KCG’s first ever Adventure and done pictures for it. I’ll be done tonight, hopefully. After some touching up of various things, it’ll be ready on Sunday. It’s been approximately a week in the making now.
Farewell to Gauntlet - So I was looking for an alternative to my crappy PHP-driven engine. It’s just not going to cut it. DMH Online will soon die because I’m not about to put the effort into reinventing the wheel. Visual novel engines exist and some half-assed PHP 4 with flashy Javascript unfortunately cannot compete with real applications. With this in mind, I set out and found Ren’Py, which is easy to use and cross-platform and all that nice stuff. I’m not doing a DMH visual novel right off the bat because that would be way too intense and ambitious and stuff, so right now I’m doing an adaptation of Gauntlet and the Broken Angel. Ren’Py is, as I said, easy to use. I’ve done about 1/5 of the text for this game already, I think, and will have a full text-only version out the Sunday after this upcoming one. Then comes images and sounds and … urk, much more work, but yes. I will have the text-only version out on the 18th.
Tundra of Heroes - Chapter Eight will be done by December 2nd. That’ll give me almost a whole month to write the remaining two chapters of the story and to think up some kind of epic epilogue. I think I’m on schedule to do what I wanted to do (which was finish by December 31st).
January, as I’ve said previously, will be dedicated to Drawing My Heart and editing Tundra of Heroes. I guess I’ll also be doing Farewell to Gauntlet art on and off over the next three months. Don’t expect a final version of Farewell to Gauntlet before the end of January.
As for other things…
Meh, I’ll talk about my web design adventures later.
